I thought I'd join and introduce myself after having a good lurk around the forums. I'm an Australian who will be moving to Wellington mid next year with my dear wife (a Bay of Islands expat) and the dog. I have spent some time in NZ already and love the place.

I'm a bit of a power-nerd, I have work experience with Solaris/BSD/Linux admin and network admin/engineering and security response. More recently I am working as a technical writer on virtualization. I must admit I am the kind of guy who has to know at least a little about nearly everything.

My most recent obsession is learning the innards of 802.11 wireless/RF/protocols. I also seem to root/rom every Android device that comes in my proximity. I play with radio scanners, play guitar, and do a bit of woodworking and photography as well.

This looks like a great place to hang out, meet people and interact with the community, and for getting involved in the local industry before the big move across the ditch.
