Often followed topics here before, but just joined to learn more about streaming as it is developing. Love using digital media and Twitter lists to keep me informed, even though the net's new democracy has virtually made my job as a newsman redundant.

Who knows where it is all heading, but as Itamar Simonson and Emanuel Rosen said in their "Absolute Value: What Really Influences Customers in the Age of (Nearly) Perfect Information", we used to make buying choices based on brand and sexy but dishonest advertising campaigns that presented bad products in a good way. And then the Internet came along. This availability of near perfect information is behind the current implosion of the advertising and media industries. Streaming vs broadcasting is likewise removing artificial shortages. I think for news the short-term future is in aggregation and presenting what's available in digestible formats, with income from micro or nano payments. For broadcasters there are short-term answers in multiplying their offerings and trying to spread their advertising across more and cheaper (to them) channels, but ultimately also formulas need to be found to spread wider while taking in smaller payments. And, in the interregnum, I personally want to go along for the ride and explore all the new technological pathways that open up.
