Wannabe Geek

Hi guys,

Wife says I shouldn't use the word geek - but well, really ... what can she expect! She married one!

I came here for the FreeView support.

For the record I luv computers (I hate them at work) - have repaired and built hundreds of 'em. I used to like photography but can't get on with the digital cameras - too many buttons. Also keen on Astronomy, Wine & Food (suppose you don't have to be a geek to enjoy this one), and have to keep petrol head tendencies well in hand. And I have particularly wide and weird tastes in music and film (ie Kill Bill, Amalee, Juno, Mrs Minerva,  LOTR, Titus Andronicus and an Inconvenient Truth are equally palatable)

Chris

Nice to have you here, and I agree: its totally good to be a geek ;] Helps that you're in the right place too of course!

Like your movies, but my tastes may be even weirder! Try and find "Save the Green Planet", "Come Drink with Me", "Oldboy" - they're all great! If you're up for something really odd-ball then Visitor Q is out there (not sure if I liked it per se, but its an experience!).

I haven't seen the flick, might have to track it down. I've only seen it performed live...

I'd say Geek are a bit more sociable than nerds. My parents-in-law had some conceptual problems when I created Geekzone, but now they spread the word!

Thats how I've always seen it too. Nerd implies a lack of social skills that Geek doesn't (neccessarily). I identify as a geek, but get offended by anyone suggesting I'm a nerd...
