Hello Geeks...

My Name is Ali Tajik Currently based in Auckland and arrived here in NZ few days back. I am IT Proffesional focused in Linux/Unix OS and Networks (Currently looking for a JOB). I was looking for a good forum and found it today...Congrats to Geekszone moderator who maintained it excelently.
Beside computers my hobbies are Hunting/Fishing & Outdoors. Hunting & Fishing is inhereted and doing it since childhood with my father. I hope and look forward to make new friends in this wonderful country.

Welcome to Geekzone and New Zealand. You'll find plenty of good hunting and fishing spots all this country. Trout fishing in Taupo is good right at the moment...

Yes Hunting/Fishing is healthy sport. You can watch nature closely and is refreshing to
get outside from artificial world where we live.
I have been surfing the net to see how Kiwi's do hunting/fishing and getting good ideas.
Beside fly fishing what other kind of techniques used by anglers to catch trouts???

Well, netting is a popular (but illegal) method used by poachers. Dynamite (powergel) attracts too much attention and while easy to obtain is also illegal.

But seriously, many people use boats at slow speed (3-5 knots) for the trolling/harling and downrigging fishing methods on lakes. For actual angling (standing with hand-held rod) you can only use flys. Live bait and weights are a no-no, although you can buy weighted fly line.

What about spinning??? People use netting here to catching trouts??? What is dynamite?? Mean explosive in water?? Dont tell it also happening here...I came from the country where such illegal practices are common and painful for serios anglers...have to take strong measures to stop it...what do you think??

Fear not young fella!

I would say that Dratsab was was being witty (I thought it funny at least!), NZ is pretty good at maintaining a healthy Hunting/Fishing enviroment, and they do have people enforcing the law in those areas pretty darn well.
