Will this place be as informative and useful as I would expect from a forum full of New Zealand's most tech savvy individuals?

Are you being ironic?  I'm not sure what threads you have been reading, but I suppose Frietasm's clever ruse of using the name "Geekzone" as a cover for New Zealands largest Fashion and Style forum has been very successful at tricking those not in the know.  You're on the wrong website I'm sorry, hun.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you're expecting... It can be extremely informative if it is not treated as the initial point of contact help desk.  As you said this is a New Zealand centric forum, so if you are from New Zealand then the topics that other users bring up will probably be significantly more useful to you than if you visited an international forum.  I think everyone here would agree that they get the most out of Geekzone when they participate positively to discussions, and feel that they have learnt a great deal by being involved.  Luckily Geekzone has been set up to cater to niche's within the very broad word that is "technology", so there are many different interests within the community, but we all share our common love of technology.

If a new user was to assert him or herself in a positive light, and bring enthusiasm and respect to the other users as well as whatever knowledge they may have, I would assume they would feel welcome and soon after, at home.

Unfortunately I do not represent the hard working people running this very informative and successful website, but I feel I can speak for many of the active users who participate in discussions every day.

Welcome to Geekzone.

You might want to change your thread title to something like "How useful do you find Geekzone?"

92.36% of topics post on Geekzone in the last 700 days have involved a question as the reason for the post.

Therefore, the word "Question" on its own as a thread title is entirely redundant and useless - as we already assume that any thread created is probably a question.

You can expect a wealth of knowledge from people willing to share with those who politely & intelligently ask for it.

Ironic? No. Tongue in Cheek? Maybe.

This is the "Introductions" forum, right? I wouldn't expect a genuine question to ever be asked in here.

I was merely making an entrance with some attempted humour and some subtle ego stroking not intending to trigger anyone's persecution issues :)

And I've obviously been watching far too many episodes of the US Office lately.

It's alittle hard to gauge sarcasm in text, so a smiley, as you have above, helps us see you mean it in jest Cool

US Office blows chunks.

Original is far better! :P

P.S. Plenty of people on the internet with persecution issues... lol - swing a cat on any site and you will hit half a dozen.

I did watch the original first and enjoyed it although the humour got a little dark during the second season. US Office is a little lighter. Plus with 70+ episodes to get through the enjoymeny lasts longer :)

Past the first season they're pretty separate series too. Enjoy both!
