Hi Everyone

I just wanted to say hello. I've watched Geekzone over the years grow and it's just fantastic. It's helped me solve many problems and kept me up to date with technology changes. I've now finally signed up and I hope I can give something back.

My background is mainly in SMB Network design and support, although over the years I've worked on some major government projects and branched out into weird and wonderful areas of IT.

A few years ago I took a break from IT and qualified as a Search and Rescue Coordinator. This was a totally different role for me and very rewarding (at times). Unfortunately, for most of us, once someone discovers you've worked in IT you're doomed. I was then "promoted" into supporting the systems and applications at the centre. It was interesting and very cool stuff to play with. There's something to be said for supporting and developing a system when you've actually done the job and understand the risks and requirements.

I've now moved the family from Wellington to sunny Tauranga and mainly work remotely. When I'm not working, I try to go sailing and catching fish.

That's me. So Hello Everyone! Laughing

Andrew
