Hello

I have asked this question before but I probably didn't give enough detail (budget,store etc).

I need to replace my HPJ121TX Netbook because of a fault.

I have $1250 to spend at Noel Leeming. I could just do a straight replacement but I thought I'd ask if anyone on here recommends anything different? I like the laptop but I haven't had much luck with HP laptops (although their customer service has been excellent).

I could also get a straight cash refund and buy something somewhere else if anyone has tips, although Noel Leeming may be hard to push for the refund.

At first glance the specifications look quite respectable, so I would say stick with that model.

We use and sell HP gear, but the commercial stuff not the consumer stuff. The commercial stuff is more expensive, built to a higher standard, and undergoes more rigorous testing.

i'm going to say take the money and run. but as you suggested that might not be possible.

so i'm going to suggest you find a better one that suits, at another retailer, ask them to price match, then flick out your refund card (not before)

so what do you need/want from your new laptop

Here's a list of similar laptops around the same price.

I'd stick with the Envy as I've got the i7 version of that laptop and really like the build quality, form factor and performance.

The only one in the list that would tempt me is the Acer at $1098. Similar specs (but has the low powered i7) and 12GB of RAM. If the build quality is the same I'd go for that.

i might be a bit dumb, im not quite following you with price match at another retailer. Are you suggesting look for a better model at another retailer and ask them to price match it for the model i have from noel leeming?

im no computer whiz but i work from my laptop and have a lot of programs open with a lot of files, so i need something that is fast and has powerfull. Things like graphics and screen res are important too but im not doing any gaming or anything.

thanks everyone - sounds like staying with the same model might be the go! i was also thinking i could spend 1 or 2 hundres more and get some better specs but to be honest im not sure i need them. This one I have has been prefectly fine for my needs to be honest.
