Hi,

I have a Samsung Series 9 Ultrabook and recently the charger stopped working (found it's little light off one day). When I eventually got hold of a replacement charger the laptop did not work. I suspect when the original charger failed it caused an over-voltage to the laptop and blew a board mounted safety fuse (I am presuming there is such a fuse as this would be good practice).
Does anyone know where to find the board mounted battery/charger circuit fuse, I have the back off but can see nothing obvious?

Hi,

I too have a Series 9 Samsung, and have read lots of reports of the power connector coming lose, either at the end of the cable or on the connector in the laptop. I would check these first.

Timbosan,

The charger definitely is broken, the little green light is off and I can find no 19V coming out of the plug.

The laptop had a fully charged battery at the time but does also not power up.

That is why I suspect an over-voltage being generated by the charger when it broke damaging a board mounted protective fuse.

Sounds like you should be getting that fixed under a warranty claim. I too have a series 9 ultrabook and there's no ways you could have had that laptop for long enough for it to not fall under the warranty that the CGA affords you.

Insane,

Got mine when they first came out so no more warranty.

Been back once already at my cost when board got fried upgrading to 8.1 beta.

So not spending any more money on it if I can help it.

These things still need to last for a reasonable period of time, one would say that at least three years is reasonable for a laptop, even if I personally think it should be longer given. I've still got my Asus w5 from 2006 working fine apart from nearly dead battery.

I'd go back to whoever you got it from and ensure it gets repaired under warranty, or an insurance claim under your contents insurance if taken out by a power surge.
