last week I had a good experience that maybe other be interested in knowing, so that's why i share this story :)

I broke my Macbook pro LCD and after I got a shocking quotation from Apple service center in Auckland tired to google for possible cheaper source on the web.

I even accept to buy it from trademe auction considering all type of the risks like warranty, made up story like I found when we moved into the new place ;) .... but nothings there either!

It was a bit surprised when I my first google search found a third of price of what I quoted by apple on a new LCD in our neighborhood area! First I couldn't believe and thought it's a web mistake ... but after I had my LCD replaced by Giga Computers in Onehunga feeling like someone who rub the bank! So that's why I said better to share with others and let others know about it too.

Now here are the points:

- 5 minutes goggling is always good for all projects you have in mind!
- Trademe is not the only option or the first option at least! possible good for dummies lol even you can find most of the items cheaper in local $1 $2 $3 shops!
- If you really care about the type of service, computer related parts better to trade with a local business not a computer software or 10 years old on online auctions as long as you can afford it!

And finally YES I'm advertising for http://www.gigacomputers.co.nz as I'm a real happy customers and seen their services and equipment they have for repairing laptops! So I post my feedbacks and want to know if anyone knows about them or not.

Maybe I am just a cynical, cranky old buggar but after reading your above first post, I immediately thought of 'viral marketing' and got the impression that you work for them ...but thats just me and my opinion.
Anyway... I have heard of them before and had found their web site when searching for certain parts ages ago but have never bought of them.

No I don't work for them or any relation like being involved. They just showed up very good and professional and I believe they already know what market needs a second option for laptop parts.

I was happy with $1000 for the service and first thought it’s a mistake and they do not know what’s involved fixing the laptop or they do not have the right parts or maybe want to put a second hand LCD. So I waited while they changing the LCD over, after 20 minutes I was very pleased with the quick service.

Anyway I told them I definitely recommend them to others and already explained why I post this here! It was like a biggest success for someone like me paying $400 instead of $1400 so while I appreciate you feedback want to know what other’s feedback is and there maybe even a better way or third option as well in here. Think that’s why this forum here to share the experience. I hope this not happen to anyone. Paying $400 still too much for person like me considering I have $480 a week in hand after tax.

I also have noticed replacing LCD on laptop took about 20 minutes so those companies who keep the laptops for weeks are showing up the job bigger than what it is or they trying to source the parts out of house.
