Hi,

I'm looking to buy a new laptop and I have narrowed it down to these two:

Sony Vaio VGN-NS25GS - $1454 incl gst

Or,

Acer Aspire 6530 - $1623 incl gst
Features
* Processor: AMD Turion X2

* Video Graphics: ATI Radeon HD3200 256MB Dedicated system memory for graphics card

I was really close to buying the Sony until I stumbled accross this Acer which is $200 more but to me it seems the Acer is well worth the extra money.

What's swaying me is the larger HD, superior vid card, more RAM, nice size screen.
BUT, I'm not sure about the processor compared to the Intel??

Thanks to anyone who spends the time comparing the two and giving their opinion or other suggestions.

PS $1600 is an absolute maximum price for me.

What are you wanting the laptop for? Is it gaming/desktop replacement/portable/other?

Acer always looks really nice, but there warranty repairs etc have been quite average in the past. If you are looking for a gaming type notebook, then this could be a possible option:

Much better video card than either of the other two. If you are gaming I would stay away from the Sony one. Also, the Acer graphics card is still integrated - it isn't a discrete solution.

In terms of processors, I would generally stick to Intel. They will generally run cooler and more efficiently unless you look and see if anyone is bringing out laptops with the new AMD Neo processor - I think has TDP of 15w

Thanks mate. I just wanted the best I thought I could for my budget of $1500. Whether it's for gaming or not I just had some specs it needed to meet.
Anyway, I have just purchased this which should do the trick.

That's not too bad at all for $1500.
Getting dedicated graphics, e-sata, and a decent sized hdd.
Strange there is no T7350 on the Intel site. Only a T7250 and a P7350.

In any case, I hope it does all you want/need.
