Grr, i placed an order for a Dell Mini 9 with 16Gb SSD on Thursday, which was on special ($50 off). They have taken until today to tell me that my order has been cancelled as the Mini-9 is no longer available (this week it seems - it is now missing from the website).

I think as a company that sells exclusively online, they should have done a lot better.

Now the next one (up from $699) is $799 for the 10V. Very displeased with Dell.

As you had placed the order, I think they should be able to offer you the replacement for the same price.
But knowing Dell, they probably had some out in the T and C for ordering online...

Vodafone sells those as well for $799 device only (no plan) - have you checked to see if they are available?

Also the Vodafone version comes with built-in 3G (perfect for the Telecom network since it's 850/2100 MHz).

Yes i have seen those thanks.

I was going to get the Dell for $699 though, which was the main advantage of that one over other netbooks at the $799 price point.

Vodafone's version comes with 8GB only. I think the OP was after a 16GB version. But then of course, the built-in 3G more than makes up for this IMHO.

It's only going to be used indoors, in the lounge when i'm watching TV, to browse/Word. I have a plethora of computers in other rooms and at work so wouldn't really have a need for the 3G... Traffic jams maybe?!

The email i got is from a non-monitored address, not sure if this is worth following up with a help desk person and 20 minutes of hold.

Agreed.

But I still wanted the 32GB, so I've ordered a couple of these from amazon.com. Cheap enough upgrade to me.. (as well as a 2GB SODIMM).

Nope, replacement. I bought two so I can have one for normal use, and another for playing with alternative OS's.

From what I've read, the second mini-PCIe slot doesn't have the required physical connections for another SSD (I can't find the reference now).

edit: unless I'm mistaken (highly likely), I believe what I read is that the WWAN slot only has USB connectivity for the 3G modem. It appears that the WLAN slot could take the SSD, but in my case it's moot - both slots are taken by devices I want to keep using :)
