Have a Compaq Presario F500 that needs a new Motherboard. Have checked around for them and have acquired one from a V6000. Has a different HP P/N. Have read that replacement parts have to be the same as what is being replaced. My question is why? If you have a laptop shell, (i.e bottom case, top case, keyboard, LCD screen, etc.), what difference does the p/n of the replacement board make? Seems that as long as the RAM, CPU, LCD screen, and graphics card are compatible with board that it should function. Correct? Thanks, BK.
