Hi all

I have purchased a new ACER laptop (aspire 5740G) and each time i plug/unplug the power source a loud BEEEP sounds. Its the same sound and volume regardless of the sound settings or volume settings, and is driving me nuts. This is a new laptop, but so far as i can see has no way of turning off this insane noise.

Any advice appreciated.

Mike

Take it back if you've only just purchased it. Claim DOA (Dead on Arrival) so you don't have to wait for it to be fixed - a straight refund or exchange.

You can turn off that sound - its not controlled by windows volume etc. Your acer should have a settings utility - there will be a setting to turn off that beep. Its not actually a fault...

Thats a fairly typical beep, to let you know that you have plugged into the mains and the battery is now charging.
As FreakyKiwi said, check the acer branded utilities to turn it off.
