Hi,

99.9% of the time no sound comes out of my notebook speakers.(speakers are not blown and have never been subjected to abuse)

Works fine using headphones or on lounge stereo system.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You/ll most probably find headset jack is broken, not switching internal speakers on when you unplug headphones.

That would be my first suspicion aswell. Damaged headphone jack.

I'll try and order the phone jack later this week. In the mean time I gotta figure out why the damn laptop won't switch on.

Thanks.

Won't switch on!, Hmmm, doesn't sound good! laptops that won't switch on get thrown straight on trademe as "there is a problem with this wonderful laptop"

Yeah, I'm pretty upset right now. It's amazing how we get so attached and rely so much on computers these days. I feel a little handicapped at the moment.

Just had the LCD Inverter replaced/repaired along with fixing the Startup/RAM problem and now this. Have never been able to have a good run with this laptop.

I've successfully worked out how to pull this notebook apart, so I'll try to wait and see if anyone in Geekzone is able to help/provide assistance in this time of need before I take it to a service centre.

Cheers.

It's hard to know without looking. Yikes, You HAVE had a bad run with this thing!

Try pullling off battery and leving power off for a minute... plug power in without battery.

if no go

Take apart and make sure power connections inside (there's like a section with carbon looking things and thick copper wire that the power plug plugs into)
are seated properly to the main larrge board inside.. reassemble, if still no go, It's porbably shot. (repairable by proffesionals)
ensure all contacts are clean and power adaptor works.
