Hi,

I'm looking for a reliable, low-usage email to text(SMS) forwarding service that I can use to get website downtime notifications as text messages on my phone. I've tried so far: Bulletin wireless, Cardboardfish and SMSGlobal. None of these appear to be transporting my messages to my phone, I assume this is because it is ported.

Possibly a NZ provider may be the solution? Any help appreciated.

P.S.: I'm also considering using the websitepulse Android app, but it is harder to include clients and third parties in this.

The first thing I note is that all the providers you mention are foreign providers - one of the rules with Telecom is that they silently drop any message from overseas claiming to be from an NZ number. I've never had problems with Bulletin though, so maybe give them a call or email and let them know your issues - I believe that they actually have formal agreements with Telecom so their messages come through and from memory used to be Telecom's recommended provider for web-2-text.

Bulletin wireless are the backend to Telecom's eTXT service so they shouldn't be dropping anything.
You may need to have a word to them as Kyanar says.

Agreed. Bulletin.net (Bulletin Wireless) have local connections with all the NZ Teleco's so should pre-route based on the number portability database. if you have an issue raise it with them.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

Many thanks for the comments. The problem is resolved two fold.

- Indeed Bulletin's service is easy to use and unexpensive and works.
- Funnily what Websitepulse staff told me is actually wrong, they do include text message notification, so all of this was a bit of a goose-chase
