Was I stupid to sign a 24 month contract with telecom just as UFB starts rolling out down our road?

I've looked through the list of providers and telecom is not one of them.

Does telecom plan on getting into the UFB network in the very near future?

Telecom announced their plans for UFB around a month or so ago - essentially a launch of UFB services in early (around Jan/Feb) 2013.

If Telecom can stick to their timings then you may see it next year otherwise there are plenty of providers who can provide it now. You may just need to bear it and pay the exit fee. Contracts should be avoided wherever possible as it almost always ends up costing you in one way or another.

Except contracts are going to be the norm in the UFB world since the ISP is tied into a contract with the LFC or Chorus, typically for a 24 month period. Gone are the days of moving address and carrying over your internet term contract with your ISP.

Well probably until UFB gets a bit more established,
I would guess there would not be a problem moving from one installed location to another that is also connected, ( sure that might not happen for 2-5 years, but it will eventually)

Aren't all LCF terms for connections 12 months?

Most problems are the result of previous solutions...
