I have spent a very frustrating afternoon assisting a friend who has had very unreliable access to Xtra email from his Laptop, iPad and iPhone. A have read a couple of postings where other people have experienced similar issues but the Xtra help desk doesn't admit to it being an issue. I know he should ditch the Xtra email addresses but he has used it for many years for his business.
The problem is that if you set up more than 2 devices with Pop access to email the accounts will report incorrect password errors until you log into Webmail and then you can access again until the error reappears. Can be 5 minutes or a couple of days.
I thought I would then just forward all Xtra email out to Gmail and then set a reply as address to the Xtra account, but the Apple devices don't appear to have a setting to allow this. So I setup the Pop servers as Gmail and the SMTP servers to Xtra. Laptop setup and worked, iPhone setup and worked, but the iPad locked up the account. Logging into Webmail fixes the issue until it reappears.
I note the Gmail recommends using the email address format of recent:username@gmail.com if you have multiple devices accessing the gmail account.
Does anyone have 3 devices or more accessing their Xtra email accounts via Pop or experiencing the same issues?
