Hey y'all - now that our Elite plan upgrade to gigabit is well underway, let's have a thread dedicated to posting about / bragging about what speeds you're getting on Gigabit!

It'll be interesting if we notice any trends emerge, and if people have done something specific to help them hit a high speed it'll be helpful for other people to know.

Post all the info you like, but let's start with

Speedtest (use the Spark Auckland server for the "definitive" speedtest, but feel free to post others)
What router you're using
If you got that speed right out of the box, or any tips or tricks you've used to help you get to your speed

Optional: Whether you're with Chorus or an LFC, plus any other stuff you can think of

Can't get fibre for a long time where I am but wonder just how long before all the current crop of gigabit routers are made obsolete when speeds increase beyond 1Gbps?

Fritzbox 7490

Spark Auckland Speed test Server.

Chorus, Auckland.

Tip: make sure under Account Information, Connection Settings, Upsteam and Downstream is 999999 kbits/sec

Other: when i first got switched over, speed was only 600 down 300 up, after i restarted the Fritz, i got more expected speeds. maybe just a coincidence tho.

We have found the citylink (Wellington) speed test server to be very bad.

The spark one seems to be good.

At the moment getting basically identical speeds to Sydney as I do to Auckland which would indicate to me a local (within my network) bottleneck of some sort.

The internet seems to think this is about max throughput over PPPOE for the R7000, apparently CTF is disabled when using PPPOE.

Will update later tonight when I try a computer directly connected to the ONT.

Router is an Asus RT-5300. My main systems (Including this one) is wired to the router via gigabit ethernet.

With Chorus.

Connected directly to the ONT due to router issues at the current.

Best result so far is around 945meg down and 470meg up

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Over 800 Mbps when a laptop is connected directly to the ONT, so definitely the R7000 that isnt keeping up

Haven't tested direct into the ONT yet but around 910 down/460 up at present, it blows my mind I can have these sort of speeds at home!!

Using Ubiquiti Edgerouter-X - I got it when I was still on 200/200 and was initially worried since it was using 40% CPU to do 200mbit. But then found hwnat offload is turned off by default - enabled with "set system offload hwnat enable" and it's all good now!

Make sure QOS is off and that on the tools page HW acceleration is listed as enabled - it gets turned off if you turn on per-ip accounting for data usage (and probably some other features). The AC-66U processor is not going to be fast enough if HW offload is disabled.

Wireless: (AC-68U, Macbook Pro Retina late-13)

Wow, I just tested the AC68U that is normally my second AP and couldn't get over 500 down

Yup, made sure I was up to date before posting last result :)

Have scoured the settings for anything obvious

Is that the Merlin firmware?

Check this thread as the person seemed to be suffering the same.

Also you could do a factory reset and reconfigure to see if it changes anything.
