I am about to change to a Telecom WorldMode phone as I will be travelling to Europe in a month or so. They currently offer Samsung W531 or OKTA Mondo. Cant see a lot of difference between them but my current Nokia 6255 has really eay access to calendar appointments etc whereas both Samsung and OKTA seem difficult by comparison.

My question is, does anyone know how to Sync either Samsung W531 or OKTA Mondo with an iMac for contacts and or appointments ?

Also does anyone have any comment on which of these 2 phones are better ?

As far as I am aware, neither will sync with OSX...

If both of the mobiles use Windows Mobile OS, then you can use The missing sync to sync up your mobile with your iMac.

How about www.scheduleworld.com?

I haven't used it but it seems to do pretty much everything and is free...

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Hi Rod,

Re: My question is, does anyone know how to Sync either Samsung W531 or OKTA Mondo with an iMac for contacts and or appointments ?

I think that if you visit a Telecom Retail Store, they have a free service called Address Book Transfer - this will move your address book from one mobile phone to another. I believe the Nokia 6255 and OKTA Mondo are both supported:

Re: Cant see a lot of difference between them but mycurrent Nokia 6255 has really eay access to calendar appointments etc

Check out the Samsung W531 close up here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/paradoxsm/1772
Check out the OKTA Mondo here: http://www.oktamobile.com/

Things you might want to compare are: battery life (and you might want to carry a second battery when travelling), camera, memory storage, media capability etc.

I've used both devices. If the feature-set you like is calendar & appointment functionality, then I would think the Samsung W531 and OKTA Mondo both offer similar functionality - maybe I'd place the OKTA Mondo ahead of the Samsung device.

A third WorldMode device has just become available - the Blackberry 8830 - as you'd expect it's good with calendar & appointment functionality - and it's worldmode. A fourth is just around the corner - Telecom NZ announced earlier this year a Samsung WorldMode device would be available in the next short while.

Oh, and the OKTA Mondo PC Sync s/ware is Windows XP only.

And only contacts sync to the device (not calendar appointments)

A VISTA version is expected later this year.
