I'm having some problems getting a Java CLDC application to connect to our server on a BlackBerry 8830. I contacted Telecom BlackBerry support and am waiting to hear back but wonder if anybody here knew what the APN settings are for Direct TCP access on the 8830 and Telecom network.

The BB's not running via an MDS server so the only two remaining options as I understand from the BlackBerry Dev site are Carrier WAP gateway or Direct TCP. Carrier WAP gateway requires changing the URL's used inside the application to have the WAP gateway info attached to them so I'd like to avoid that option and use Direct TCP. In Settings -> Advanced Options -> TCP the 8830 is asking for APN, username, password. On Vodafone BlackBerries I would put in the settings for the VFNZ Internet APN but I don't know what the settings are for Telecom. So any ideas on the APN settings or how to get a direct internet connection from a BlackBerry 8830 without using the BlackBerry Internet Service?

ok so it seems that Direct TCP is not available on the Telecom network and that the only way a Java ME application can get internet access is via an MDS connection. BlackBerry are currently offering a 1 user free edition of their express server for which more licenses can be bought over time as well as upgrading to larger versions.
