I have installed 2x Skinny Wireless Broadband 4G Units (Huawei) on their $52/month 100gb Contract Free Plan. (1 in Auckland and 1 in Bay of Islands). So far they are great, no problems apart from very occasional drop out on each that was fixed by simple reboot.
So, seeing as it is the same as their Mobile Phone Broadband network, I decided to switch my phone from 2degrees to Skinny ($30/mth, 3gb, unlimited calls & texts)
I have found it slow, with seemingly lots of latency. I haven't done any speed tests yet, but seeing as I just swapped from 2degrees, which always seemed to work great & without issue, it's starkly noticeable...
Google Now thinks for ages when I make a voice query and web pages seem to hang for long periods while loading...
It's confusing, as I've found the Huawei home modem works great and it should be the same network.
My mobile (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 - 64gbrom+3gbram) is usually quick & responsive, so I don't think it's that.
The only other possibility I can think of is that somehow my phone system settings aren't optimised for Skinny, as I only changed over today (now regretting it a bit..)
Any ideas??
