I've had a look through the existing xtra email thread and I couldn't spot any comments about the migration of existing email folders within your Yahoo account other than issues with emails in the Inbox.

I've created a lot of folders and sub-folders for storage of my emails. Has anyone had any issues with these being transferred to the new email provider? Are they even transferred - I can't seem to find a definitive statement on any Spark webpage.

Any know what happens to existing email folders within the Yahoo interface?

Thanks

John

They gave you the option to opt-in and keep folders. Mine came across fine although I only had about 10.

Thanks for that - I don't remember a Keep Folders option when I opted in. But I would definitely have selected it.

Glad to hear it all went successfully for you.

Why would they make this an opt-in? Would make far more sense if it just happened without having to explicitly specify it.

I have just noticed that I have been 'migrated' despite my yahoo still working fine.
I too have a considerable number of folders and noticed the number has increased on the new xtramail with the addition of Bulk Mail, Draft & Archive.
A cursory glance seems to indicate that all appears in order with email contents in each.

However my biggest worry is the integrity (email count) of each folder. In Yahoo I could hover over all folders including Inbox and Sent and I have recorded the exact email count which shows up in each. In Xtramail I see nowhere any ability to simply view a folder content count. Thinking it must be logical and intuitive, a right click, then click on properties shows info so vague as to be laughable. Unusually I then searched through the help area pages to no avail.

My life is not long enough and I am betting I can get an answer quicker from the wonderful geekzone talent here quicker than via Spark.

For reassurance sake....Please tell me I am missing the obvious

Thanks for the reply PeteS.

Good to hear your folders have gone across OK. Shame about the UI change though.

When I browse to xtramail.co.nz, I am still redirected to the Spark 'Check your migration status' and eventually sent through to Yahoo.

3 days left and counting.

which is why you made a backup of all those emails , if they were of any importance smile

Seriously, if it matters , if you can still access yahoo, backup all those yahoo emails & folders
You'll need to use imap, then export all that mail to a backup hard drive (via outlook, tbird, whatever)

I thought they meant it was an extra opt-in after you had already given permission to migrate the mail. Maybe I misunderstood.

Yeah no, there is no extra opt in for the moving of folders Simply you have to opt to move your data otherwise it will be starting afresh.

migrations are happening very rapidly now, A new team to help assist with any queries on the move has been setup.

Give it time.

Once the migration is finished, the check your migration status step will go away.
