Is there anything out there now that can do 3G voice on spark, not through Voip but through the standard voice plan?
Been looking and have come up dry.

Aredwood: If you are just meaning something to make voice calls on the Spark network. There was another thread, where someone said that you can get a Huawei B315 router. Put your SIM card into it. Then just plug a landline phone into the router for making calls.
This uses VoIP over a dedicated APN to delivered guaranteed QoS and not circuit switched voice.
I'm not really sure why the OP would want circuit switched voice - voice quality is better for standard calls than the AMR codec on 3G. You would also end up with the device dropping back from 4G to 3G every time a call was made, which is one of the main reasons Spark don't use this solution.

1. How does VoIP over a dedicated APN work - specifically in the case of my use of a 2Degrees account to connect via a Vodafone tower? It was a while back that I investigated this, but using the B315 for a voice call drains calling minutes, not megabytes, from my 2Degrees account.
2. The B315 works only on 900 MHz and 2100 MHz for UMTS (3G), and Spark doesn't do 2G (GSM), so would it even work on Spark other than on 4G?

Sparks voice product is over VoIP.
If you go and put a 2d sim in it, there in no way this is going to work.
The spark b315s are firmware locked to 4G, because that's all we support as a Wireless Broadband product.
Seek out the Vodafone modems for what your wanting..

We agree that the B315 is not going to do what the OP says he wants, which is 3G voice on Spark. The Spark flavoured B315 is locked to 4G. The Vodafone flavoured B315 won't do 3G at 850 MHz.
