I am using a spark connection with Modem (HG659).

Here is the query, my internet stops working intermittently and then in a few seconds router page is displayed as following. If you see, the user is "anonymous".

Then, after seconds, it does some redirection and the normal internet resumes.

Is this normal behaviour? Does anyone else have seen this with their Spark modem?

Your internet connection is likely dropping for some reason.

Every 4 hours?  It will mean there is a config mismatch, so the network knows you are Spark but not who you are. So you get internet but it will drop off I think its every 4 hours

I can probably fix that but I'm not official  @cbrpilot is official here

I thought this was disabled in the hg659b..

regardless, the issue at hand is, your connection is dropping.

How often is this happening? have you contacted the call center? they would be able to see the disconnections.

My initial thinking was that someone (with username as anonymous) is trying to get access to my router (and subsequently my network).

That doesn't look like this issue, isn't it?

I have contacted the call centre and they did some tests too. But this is a repeat issue.

This is happening inconsistently, sometimes few times within an hour and then nothing for the rest of the day.

Good afternoon achokshi, personally I am not an expert on our Huawei routers (others online here will no doubt know more than I!). So I cannot advise whether the "user anonymous" is normal or not.  It could be a function of a captive portal/redirect the router does when the internet connection goes down - but that is pure speculation.

What I can tell you is that if your connection is going down for a few seconds periodically there can be multiple causes for this - one of them being the config mismatch that tdgeek speaks of.  If you PM me your details I can take a look and see if I can see anything.  Or better yet, PM hio77 (as he has offered) as he'll probably have access to fix problems rather than just see them like me!

Dave.

Would i be right in saying this started up over the weekend and you havent noticed it today?

Looks like there was a network fault fixed on a neighbouring connection, Yours decided to adjust the speed a tad and freaked out for a day or two.

you shouldn't have gotten that screen in the last 24 hours.

Yes I haven't seen this after I reset my modem and potentially has not happened in the last 24 hours.

However, this is a pattern and does repeat every few weeks or so (again intermittently).

Hopefully, it has been resolved for long this time.

It's just the captive portal capturing traffic when the WAN goes down.

I've got a monitor on the line to sanity check it, but it's looking pretty good at this stage :)

a minor blip in the world of copper - I'd recommend look at fibre.

Thanks, I am feeling a lot more assured about the security now. I will check out the fibre options.

Cheers!
