I dont think there is anything on offer at the moment. There used to be a basic phone that was covered in rubber that would take a good punch but i cant remember what network it was on or the model. Anyone know what Im talking about? It was black and had rather large buttons.

Hi,

Nokia used to offer a 5140 which is GSM technolgy (ie Vodafone in New Zealand). That was prob the most rugged phone I've seen apart from way back in the day when Motorla did something similar and you could drop it into a pint and still ring! I'm sure the Americans must have something up thier sleve seeing as they are one of the main cdma markets (the Technology that Telecom are currently using).

cheers

Telecom's Sanyo 7050 is not water proof.
I think the phone being referred to at the start of this thread was the Sanyo 7400.Once again it is not water proof, but could withstand a good drop or two and did have a camera.
Unfortunately it is no longer on the market, but you can still get the odd one on Trade me.
