At the Skinny guys -

I presume you realize 2 degrees have been offering a $10 monthly pre-pay plan with rollover data and minutes - including 1 hour of free data per day for sometime now.

I have already rang your helpline inquiring about this twice and whether there are plans afoot to match the competition.

They seem to have no idea about anything??

Please advise whether this plan is a possibility for addition of rollover data and minutes in the very near future or am I going to have to take my families phones to 2 Degrees.

I'm quite happy with Skinny but this is a dealbreaker for me.

Marketing and the bean counters control this, If you want Carryover then move to 2degrees and it's not a 28 day plan on 2d but calendar month

Edit: And of course the helpdesk would not be able to answer that question as they are not marketing or the bean counters that make the call on changes

Slightly OT but a friend tried this morning to get a unlock code for a old skinny phone which has been connected for over nine months to skinny and switch to warehouse mobile. No way he was told $30 unlock fee applies.

@Linux - If you don't ask you don't get. - You're probably right they won't answer my question directly.

They'll still read it and maybe a ball will be placed in motion if they value their clients and changes may happen.

If you a better idea of how I should attract attention to the question asked, please let me know, I'm all ears

@kiwibrucie Correct or front line staff talk about changes in public they are not meant to and then no surprise to Joe Bloggs

Edit: Clearly the $9 a month customers don't mean as much to them!

I've had a few friends switch from Skinny to kogan mobile lately. They all say better pricing on Kogan mobile using the yearly option and better coverage on the vodafone network plus free MMS and voicemail.

If it is a deal breaker why don't you move and try 2D? At that price bracket its hardly worth kicking up a fuss.

Pretty sure not going to happen on Skinny, just like the one hour free data a day on 2degrees, but nothing to match Skinny.

It’s been like that for over a year, maybe two, if they were going to do anything my opinion it would have happened by now.

I would love the $10 roll over one as I have over 10 gigs roll over.

If Skinny doesn’t suit switch. I was on 2degrees and 4G keeper dropping to 3G, except for around New World Shirley Christchurch, Skinny hasn’t missed a beat with 4G, over a year since I was in that area so not worried.

I’ve heard 2degrees mobile has improved since then, but not interested in hassle of slim swap, number port just in case.

@Nate001 - You're right I do hold the power with my feet and as I specifically said in the OP, I probably will move my families phone contracts to 2 Degrees over this issue.

There is no fuss being made, I was simply pointing out to my service provider a shortfall in their product compared to their competitors.

By airing the issue in a public forum where they will be sure to see it, hopefully they are a smart business and will make the plan more competitive and benefit their many customers into the bargain.

As I said earlier to another poster, if you have a better idea for attracting the service providers attention to the issue, feel free to let me know with an on point reply.

To the OP - the specific issue you have pointed out has been in place for at least 6 months. 2D used to have a $9 plan like Skinny (but 30 days not 28). I was with Skinny then. When 2D changed to the current plan ($10/month with rollover minutes and data) I moved to 2D.

Each Telco will inevitably know exactly what their competitors are offering. Clearly when 2D changed from the $9 to $10 plan, Skinny (who had already not matched the $9/month plan) chose not to match the $10 plan either. That's their choice.

With number portability there is no reason to stay with your current provider if someone else offers a better deal - just move (assuming your handset is compatible).

Sim cards cheap enough $2 at most supermarkets. Warehouse mobile sim $1 and comes with $5 credit preloaded.

That's one thing that annoys me about the main telcos, why are they still charging for MMS and if so why is it as much as 50c/image? As I understand it MMS goes through a variation of their data network but from a user's perspective it goes through their mobile data which most people already pay for. There are many who don't have everyone connected via the multitude of IM apps which do it for free. At least 2Degrees have abandoned voicemail access fees.
