Has anyone done this at all?

got the mobile on XT and trying to connect to the net via USB between my PC and Mobile. would think it would be fairly easy using Nokia PC Suite but when I go to connects it seems to want me to first configure some settings.

there are some preloaded options but none of them seem to be for Telecom/XT

this is what I need to use to get it to connect it seems. not really sure what I should be putting here though

PC Suite worked ok for me. Try access point = internet.telecom.co.nz (or direct.telecom.co.nz).

Question, is there a basic USB modem driver for these that avoids having to install that massive PC suite? I'm wanting to get one running on a lower powered PC.

In the past I have used PC suite to set-up the connection the first time but from then on just used the connection it created in Windows dial up settings . . .

But then I still have to install the 100MB+ pc suite, a bit hard in embedded stuff. Time to hack the drivers out I think then just make that connection as you suggested..

Yes. Its been a while since I did this.

But my old notes (yeah! dug them out from my google desktop cache!) for the N95 (Im assuming all S60 3rd edition phones behave similarly) say that I had to add AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","APNNameXYZ" as a special initialisation string to the usb/modem configs - after you had installed the drivers (dont forget to set the handset to PC suite mode prior to connecting the USB cable!).

Thanks heaps the the init strings, I'd remembered to re visit this and actually do it.

Does anyone actually know what to put in the field "IP" ?

APN is obvious, "direct.telecom.co.nz" or "internet" (TNZ, VNZ) o do I just leave that as "IP" ?

IP should be left blank as this is assigned by the network when connection is made
