So Telecom have offered me a free upgrade from my Okta Mondo v870 to the Telecom R6.
I had a look for some comparative reviews but couldn't find much useful to base a decision on. I just want a basic phone, I do use a t-stick for mobile internet on my laptop so tethering might be a bonus if I could consolidate costs on internet access.
My current phone plan is Flexi Anytime. I spent about $100 last month, $80 on national calls and $20 on mobile calls. I also have a mobile broadband account, CPM48 - MOB BROADBAND 1GB+, and I've used an average of 1.5GB/month on that for the last two months. (Often I stay under quota as well, if not mobile.) I don't seem to be getting billed for that separately so maybe it's built into the Flexi Anytime plan?
I've had the Okta for a couple of years now. I read online that the Okta can do GSM so maybe I can use it on XT network anyway, although it's currently CDMA. I spend a fair amount of time out in the wops so I benefit from improved coverage. I haven't tried throwing a Telecom SIM into the phone yet, though.
I've been with Telecom for ages and am not itching to switch (yet!) so the presumable contract extension is not a major worry for me. I'm guessing they will want an extra 24months contract, otherwise why would they be offering me a phone for free?
I'm not pushing my current device to the limit (I can barely work the camera) but could be interested in accessing my Gmail account or Google Calendars etc from my mobile device ... if it was easy enough :D
Would really appreciate any good input people can give me on my options here!
Thanks in advance.
