I am on one of telecoms plans. I use a paradise email account, and I use outlook.

Today i encountered this issue
"Your message was not delivered because the return address was refused"
I can still receive incoming mail but i can send
what is this and how do i fix it?
I have all the correct SMTP settings for incoming and outgoing mail servers, and im guessing its something to do with spam and ports etc?

Is this a Telecom connection? What SMTP server are you using? Have you signed up for the Port 25 opt-out? If this is the Telecom/xtra SMTP have you authenticated your Paradise.net.nz address using the webmail interface?

you need to change smtp servers.

The new details are

send.xtra.co.nz
port 465
use SSL, and the username/password is the same for the receving of emails.

EDIT, also if you are seding emails that belong to your own domain, eg fred@frednetworks.co.nz then you will need to register that address so that it will not be blocked. There is a limit of ten email address' per registered @xtra.co.nz address.

To do this, you need to log into your yahoo/xtra webmail. Goto options, and then accounts. Then add all new accounts required. You do not have to add the webmail settings if you do not have to, in this process.

You will need to go online at http://nz.yahoo.com/ login with your xtra email address, click Options then Accounts and add your Paradise account there.

After this you should be able to use the Xtra smtp server to send emails where the sender is configured as your Paradise account.

Just be aware that since the xtra server it is coming from is nothing to do with paradise, most spam filters will weight it negativly for that, so anything else spammy will probably trigger delivery to a spam folder.

I have found that just things like attaching an image is enough to trigger most spam filters when using a smtp thats not your own.

Best to use the paradise one if that's your email address since it has all the dns records that make it the legit one to be doing email for a paradise address.

This is valid if a) you opt out of port 25 filtering with Telecom and b) you can actually access the Paradise SMTP server from another network (not sure you can).
