Hi all,
I've been receiving nuisance calls from an ex-friend of mine. He's left messages on my landline answerphone several times over the last few days, and I've deleted the messages as I didn't want to listen to them all the way through.
I called Telecom to find out if I can block him from calling me again, and apparently the only way I can do this is to give them three dates and times where he called, then they'll call him and give him a warning, and then if he calls again they'll block his number. I'd prefer just to have him blocked immediately, and in any case I don't have the records of the times he called as I deleted the messages (and would prefer not to have to wait for three more to arrive). They said they could help me find the times of the calls if I knew roughly when they were, but I don't.
Can anyone suggest any alternatives? For example:
- If I switch to another telco (TelstraClear, or a VOIP system, or something), could I choose to block him immediately without going through Telecom's rigmarole?
- Is there a device I could put between my phone line and my phone which will screen caller ID and block calls from his number?
I know his phone number so I know which one to block. Obviously it's not foolproof but I don't think he's smart enough to dial 0197 or anything!
Thanks,
John
