Hi, I posted this question beofre but must have done something wrong - so if it turns up somewhere else as well sorry!
Have moved from NZ to Australia.  Have taken our cordless phones to help minimise relocation costs. Jack point plugs are different and no adaptors are available. No prob I thought, I'll just change the modular plug.
Problem, wiring from phone to modular plug that goes into wall phone jack is different.
NZ line has 2 wires only, a brown one and a white? one, or it could be light pink, couldn't see clearly.
Ozzie modular plug has facility for 6 wires - white, black, red, green, yellow, blue or USOC wiring as it was called on a US site I found myself on.
hCan the NZ wires be connected to the Ozzie plug? and if so which wire goes where please.  THey both run on 240 so that bit is Ok.

Hope you can help me, thank you.

Just visit DSE or Jaycar and buy a new cable to run from the phone, assuming it has an RJ11 connector on it and is not hardwired.

Thank you for the reply and logical answer.  Gosh, I feel silly, why didn't I think of that, or for that matter why didn't the guys at jaycar think of it yesterday?!  Its not hardwired so that should be ok, once again though the phone end of the existing cable still just has two wires.  Do you think that will make a difference?

oz phone lines only use 2 wires as well, the 2 in the centre of the plug, all the other wires aren't used.

Thank you both for your very helpful answers.  My NZ phones are now working well here in Oz.
