Hi all.  I have just bought a new HTC Desire A8183 from Mobicity.  It will work on the Telecom XT network.  However it has quite a few Australian Telstra apps on it, like bigpond and Aussie yellow pages etc.  Does anyone know how to get rid of them?  I phoned the HTC support line and they told me I could not get rid of them. ....

You need to get root access to be able to remove those Telstra shortcuts

A good resource: http://androidforums.com/
Desire specific: http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/

Current Phone:
- Android: Samsung SM-G900F Galaxy S5 (XT)
- Win Phone 8: Samsung ATIV S (XT)

Current Tablet:

- Acer Iconia 7" Android Tablet

I've done something very similar and am now running a Telstra Desire on XT with the generic HTC software (ROM).

Not got the URLs etc. - they're at home, but key things I did was create a Gold Card - this is just a MicroSD card that is formatted in a special way specifically for your phone and then applying ROMs from various places.

It was quite frustrating as some Micro SD cards do not work in this way - the Gold Card creation process would work but the card would not do what I needed it too then booting the phone. Fortunately I had three to play with, and one worked in the end.

Let me know if you need more info.
