I want to know because I dont want to download and install an 8gb game and have it metered towards my tiny 10gb cap... And if its not can someone give me a list of ISPs that DO?

Cheers...

I don't belive Telecom do unmetered on anything, except facebook on their XT network.

I know that Xnet, Slingshot & TelstraClear i think, all have Steam content servers. Avaliable to their own customers of course. Not sure if any of them do unmetered to the servers though.

Would be a good idea to email / ring each and investigate.
If you had slingshot you could always set your downloads going in the free offpeak data periods.

According to this list Steam content servers Recoil are the only content servers in NZ (i do beleive slingshot had one, it looks like they don't anymore).  Recoil host a forum and game servers, so as far as i can tell there is no option to get unmetered steam downloads.

they don't unmeter, but....
you are allowed one plan change per month and although the charge is prorated, the data cap is fully reset.

download the game, use the other 2Gb for whatever you like, then switch plans to, say, the 20GB plan for the rest of the month to get your data cap reset. then next month, switch back.

Slingshot have one, but it's not unmetered (i.e. it'll come off your cap).

the slingshot servers dont count towards you cap, if you game on the server. but to download a steam game, will use your usage. I would use the off peak slingshot (if its full speed) or otherwise download it with telecom on the last day of your billing period ;) i love the 200gb a month on a 5gb plan

Xnet have a content server unmetered on recoil. It doesn't contain all steam content however.
Slingshot have a metered content server available. Download in free off peak times etc.
Telstraclear are rumoured to be getting their asses into gear and getting one branded as ON3/Clearnetdeluxe however thats been too little too late to stop me from switching to telecom.

A little bird told me that recoil got the boot from Xnet because they got sick of the DDOS's recoil was incurring.

Slingshot have a customer only steamcache, but whether its unmetered I dont know.

TelstraClear (via ON3) have been looking at setting up an NZ steam server, and last rumour I heard was maybe April-May this year.

Slingshot's steam cache is not unmetered, as I said above :)

(exception: unless you download in the free hours)
