I am using MacBook Pro. The problem starts when I close the lid or put the computer to 'sleep', it will not reconnect to the wireless when you open the lid or 'wake' the computer up. It always asks for the password (even though it is stored in the keychain), upon entering the correct password it says 'invalid password'.

Anyone can help to solve this problem?

I also have this router and connect to it using 5 macs and 3 iPhones without any issues like what you're having. Nevertheless, I would suggest you try:
1) Apple -> Software Update, make sure you're using 10.6.7 (currently the latest OS) and also that there aren't any outstanding Airport updates.
2) Change to WEP security on the router if you're already up to date.

Hi we have the mid 2009 mbp and we had this issue. after our tg585v7 died telecom replaced it with the newer tg585v8. It had the same issue as your having. We went through 3 v8's before telecom reimbursed us for a WAG120N from tricky dicky which has been fine ever since.

After 2 days phone calls to their helpline. Finally Telecom manage fixed that problem. They just updated the trouble shooting to the helpline... the router works fine since that

I wouldn't call that an solution.

WEP old and is not secure. It can be cracked by brute force with programs easily available on the internet by anyone fairly tech savvy.

Sure it's not very likely someone nearby would:
a) notice you're using WEP
and b) decide to crack it and leech of your internet via wireless

However, it is possible!

having this exact problem with both the macbook pro and the imac. the ipad for some reason is fine.

i can fix it with the WEP and wireless protocol change, but I agree, firstly WEP is old and insecure and I don't want to compromise on network speeds just because of a buggy router!

does anyone know if thomson have released a firmware fix for this?

I started the above thread with your exact problem. Still haven't been able to find a complete "fix".

It seems if you keep clicking the connect button after entering the correct password, it will eventually connect.
But, that is far from a satisfactory solution.

It definitely seems related to specific mac books, combined with the TG585v8.
And as far as I can tell, it only affects mac books. An unfortunate combination of Wifi hardware/software in the mac, combined with the hardware/software in the Thomson.

A few other friends have experienced the same thing with mac books and this exact router.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help though.

My experience with two different families using the WAG120N is that the Linksys device is a bad paperweight. As soon as it gets significant traffic and 3 or more concurrent users it freezes. Searches on forums reiterate that it is a significant issue for many users.

What type of macs do you have?

i'm on a macbook pro, 13" 2010 model. we have an imac too and that also seems to be affected, although the ipad hasnt had any problems.

i've yet to fire up the windows machine to see if that's also affected.

although configuring the router to use b(legacy)/g only and WEP instead of WPA the problem goes away.

i've sent telecom an email asking if thomson has released any fixes for it.

Have you considered an Airport Extreme and just use any ADSL2+ modem ?

Yours is definitely not the last complaint there will be about this modem.

I went through 3 or 4 of them and each had the same fault (resetting, wireless drop out, wiped settings).

Telecom thought maybe I had a faulty ethernet port and that I should try new network cards. They didn't think 4 modems could have the same fault.

Eventually I bought a 2wire modem and my problems were fixed-the new modem has reset perhaps twice in the last year, probably due to telecom network issues rather than the modem.

If I were going to buy a new modem today, I'd make sure it have IPV6 protocol.

We have an a 2wire gateway modem router from Telecom providing adsl and an Apple Airport Extreme BaseStation (Simultaneous Dual Band II).

The AEBS often has the following devices connected and doesn't skip a beat:

'n' 5 GHz - 3 Macbook Pro, 3 Apple TVs, iPad2, iPad (cannot recall 1st gen this was 5GHz)

'n/g' 2.4GHz - 2 iMacG4s, 1 Macbook, 2 iPhone4 and 2 iPhone3G (retired to kids without simcards), 3 Airport Express Units (Music), Tivo, DellLaptop,

Ethernet 2 laser printers and PowerMac G5

With visitors/family often more iPhones connected, and also more computers when it has been a makeshift office since Feb22.

You can also setup a guest network to keep visitors separate from your network.

One of the planned upgrades for this easter weekend was to send down my earlier model AEBS to my in-laws, as they are having no end of issues with their WAG120N freezing, or just dropping wireless connections. Everytime it had more than 2-3 wifi clients it would have an issue, so of course when my family descend upon them it was bound to fail. The range was not great either.

My wife is already down there and complained of the Linksys wifi having issues, so I asked her to connect the AEBS and within 3-5 minutes all connected in bridge mode, and has not had a dropout or issue since.

Glad that I found this discussion as I've been extremely frustrated over the last week trying to diagnose problems between my Apple TV and iMac.

Seems if I reboot my Thomson TG585 the Apple TV can see the iMac (for Home Sharing), but it randomly disconnects. Also found a similar problem between my Android Tablet and the iMac (with doubletwist) and my wife's iPad also has trouble with the Thomson.

After discussing this @ work we jokingly decided that I needed to swap to an Apple router (Airport Extreme Base Station) - but after reading this discussion it sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Might just wait until the next profit share from work 8-).
