Unique1989: i'm Just wanting too know if My Internet connection could be faster than it is at the moment , we have an Alarm system which is connected to directly too my phone line . The house has no splilter  conected too the Phone line etc.Would my stats improve if i rang up telecom and asked them to rewire and install a spillter in side the house?
 
I forgot to mention that i disconnected form the internet as soon as i pick it up.

If you don't have filters on every phone you're going to be disconnected every time you use the phone.

As to your speed you haven't made any mention of your sync speed or real world speeds so nobody can make any judgement on your speeds.

My attenuation is almost double what yours is, and I sync about 50% faster than you are. It does sound like a wiring issue, especially if you don't have any filters or a splitter.

Hi, 12Mb/s sync rate for 12dB attenuation seems a little on the lite side, and the fact that it disconnects erratically would indicate incorrect filtering. You must have a filter between each connected phone and the socket, if you have an alarm system (that your using or not) that touchs the phone line then it too should have a filter and that has to be a central filter. A central filter will also save you having to have little filters between each socket and phone.

The two issue raised (low speed for line loss and erratic connection disconnects) are classic poor filtering issues.

This is was my Speed prior too this post i also use the filters by telecom the type you connect too the phone socket.

Hi, so just to clarify, you still have occasional disconnections?, and lastly you have filters on each POTS (plain old Telephone device, ie phone, fax, skybox etc). How many filters and POTS devices are there. 

As I said 12dB attenuation should easily achieve 15-18Mb/s if correctly wired, one thing that inline filters on each POTS device cannot overcome are issues relating cable reflections from stubs within the house wiring. Even a small number of line stubs (lines that split off from one location to another) can cause parts of the spectrum to become unusable and therefore reduce speed, the only solution is to have a central filter installed.

i have a 18.5 Attenuation down. Also yeah i get disconnection here and there But its always does happen when i pick up the phone.

Hi, so these new figures compared to the first post are presumably the result of a modem reboot. As I have said, even with 18.5dB and 13Mb/s its still a bit on the light side, if you want to get the most out of it, then get a central filter with a dedicated line from the demarc to modem installed.

Varies depending on what effort is involved, but work on $150-200, Chorus charge a flat $200, some data cabling companies will do it for less.
