Have you tried searching the forums?
This has been answered many times, basically your IP address is coming back to a US location.

We show these flags based on the IP address used to post, not the information given to us.

It seems you're posting from a CDMA address. According to the database we have these addresses are part of a block assigned to a U.S. company, even though they are being used by Telecom.

I have just done a search on "http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation" and it tells me I am located in Auckland NZ.

So why don't we fix it? if if you know xyz block is telecom cant we ignore the "database" that is in use?

It depends on what database they use.

Its a 120,000 records database. Some blocks may overlap. It's free and it does (in general) a good job. t's not meant as a tool to pinpoint your location, but to give a general idea - we only show to users that are logged in, due to the stress on the database if we had to do look ups on this table for every forum page we show  - which are a few million every month.

CDMA EVDO mobile data is being turned off in a couple of months. Why bother, things will change then...

CDMA EVDO data is gone by October this year, but CDMA 1xRTT will stay on until 2012.
