Hi guys,

I'm planning on moving my mother to VFX, from a bare Telecom POTS line. And I'm going to try and do it from Sydney.

So, the questions:
1. I have a PAP2T (old, but serviceable) that I've previously used on VFX, but I think I unlocked.  When I put the profile URL into it (http://58.28.20.69/configs/default/default$MA.cfg still, right?) it takes it, modifies it to have a [key], then clears it completely.

Can I set this up before I arrange my mother's connection? Is it clearing the URL because I previously used this on OpenVFX?  Anything I can do to fix it?

2. I've got a fairly basic new Belkin Play modem/router arriving to her house soon (it's not a great one, but it'll do). Courtesy of Acquire's new reverse-auction page which gives pretty amazing prices on a Friday :-) $12

Someone's going to have to configure that ADSL details into it, right?

Mmmm. Thats all for now I think. My brother can set up the hardware, but I'd rather do as much pre-work as possible.

Thanks,
Bruce
PS My own VFX connection works great from Sydney.

When you put in the provisioning URL, it heads off and grabs your settings (based on MAC address) from their server.

Unless you have a config set up with them, I understand it grabs a generic (blank) config instead.

I'd be tempted to just get your brother to put the URL in (assuming he's the one do the on site plugging in).

If it was previously used as certified VFX, then it will have a "reset" config sitting there at WxC. To overcome this.
- plug in ATA with no Internet connection
- set provisioning url
- disconnect ATA
- Do not plug ATA back in until:
- Activate new VFX line with MAC address and wait until this has gone through and you have received myvfx email
- Now plug ATA back in, and it will pick up the new config
