Hey folk,

I have finally (!) converted my mother onto Fusion, ported her number, and it's all go. Well done Xnet/VFX/WxC [can you sort out what your name is please, I never know what to call you].

It's good, but now I'm getting echo and clipping between the PAP2 and Gigaset (non VOIP) phone. It's not bad, but worse than PSTN so the Acceptance Factor is impacted.  I can remotely alter the impedance, but that kind of trial and error remotely is pretty frustrating.

As an alternative...

I've been using Gigaset phones with VFX for some years now. They're excellent. Faultless, flawless, and for my minimal needs (no fancy dialplans, no incoming treatments etc) they're perfect.

I think the barrier to getting them officially supported by VFX has been the remote management? I had a wee look today though, and they do support remote management. Stacks of options even  - ooh and even a HOWTO guide and phone support matrix

It would be nice if you guys could start selling them/supporting them. It's a much better intro to VOIP than an ATA.

It would avoid me needing to change my mother onto OpenVFX and the associated remote configuration. It's great I've got the option and all, but...plug and play would be easier.

So, now you're all your own bosses...how about it?

Cheers,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce,

We are constantly testing a comparing devices however there is quite a lot of work involved with doing this, as you can probably tell we have invested a lot of that time into the Linksys/Cisco hardware sets.  In saying this we are always open to new devices as they come along, I can't promise that this device will meet our requirements but you have at least brought it to our attention.

Regards

Josh
