Can any body tell me how to rout the VOIP on a wag54gp2 out the ethernet ports. I want to connect the Voip over a Ethernet link I have available rather than th Adsl which would be the norm I saw one message which said set the advanced routing to 58.0.0.0/8.
I'm not sure what the /8 is supposed to mean.

the /8 is the mask bit, it is the same as setting the subnet mask to 255.0.0.0

So what you are saying is route any traffic for 58.0.0.1 to 58.255.255.254 to whereever your point it to...

Say if it was 58.0.0.0/16 it would mean

Route any traffic for 58.0.0.1 - 58.0.255.254, anything outside of that range would take the default 0.0.0.0 route.

I would have thought that if your internet connection is connected to the Ethernet side, you would just change the default route on the device to point to that.

Also, 58.0.0.0/8 contains alot more than just WorldExchange... ie 58.0.0.0 - 58.1.255.255 are used by FUJITSU LIMITED

Thanks for that, I actuary worked out that I needed 255.0.0.0 in the subnet mask in the router. However you have cleared up the /8..for me. I've always struggled with subnet mask, but the way you explained it I just feel stupid now.
As for just changing the default routing, By default (this is educated guessing) the Voip looks to the internal internet gateway for the internet connection. It appears that when you disable this it just asks sits and does nothing. So you have to tell it to go to another gateway to find the address.
The other problem I had was the firewall was stopping all the outgoing 58.?.?.. traffic because the address and ports used by xnet were so far outside what was acceptable to the firewall.
So new I have it working I am going to go back and play with the subnet mask and see what difference it makes.

I would image you are right, can you see a routing table or anything like that on the linksys?

As you are not using the Internet port, I would try and add a route like you did for the 58.0.0.0/8 but add it for 0.0.0.0, with a subnet mask of 0.0.0.0

This will then become the default route.

This also may not work, and at the end of the day if you are only using the WAG54GP2 for VoIP you dont even need to do this, as your 58.0.0.0 will be find to connect to WxC's server etc.
