Hi there,
I'm using call notify, which works well.
I get a message in the form of "Call Notify from 027xxxxx - name unavailable at Apr 4, 2007 1:58:20 PM"

How do I get the name to display - I called the help desk and was told that if I added numbers and names in Outgoing Calls the name would appear - they don't ..

Any ideas?  Thanks.

This works for other VFX users only, their name will be displayed as other Networks can't pass that info that's why it is not displayed.

Just phoned you so you should see a name with number in your call notify.

In my experience, the Caller Name only appears when the incoming call originates from another VFX customer.

Until I got VFX installed, I never realised what the second line on my Desk Phone's display was for.  With external numbers such as those originating from Telecom's network, or Vodafone's network, the second line on my Desk Phone always displays the same as the top line, however if the caller is another VFX customer, the second line on my phone displays their NAME instead of their number.

When this name is unavailable (because the caller isn't a VFX customer), your e-mail notifications will not show any Caller Name as you have already found.

My notifications consist of:

Voice Message Attached 09xxxxxxx

Because you aren't actually forwarding the Voice Message, but only a notification, yours may be slightly different.

EDIT: Snap -- Just saw Phil's post after I finished mine...

Grant, you give a much better formatted message than I do :)

Thanks again Phil and Grant ...

I got "Call Notify from private number at Apr 4, 2007 2:51:55 PM" ,

I can now see how it works ... although I'm not sure that "private number" is all that helpful - although I suppose there's a number waiting on my phone or that if it's from a non-private number I might get more info.  (and anyway if it's a private number it's private!)
I've only just got this voip thing so I'm on a bit of a learning curve.
Most impressed with the call notify - I get an e-mail before the ringing has finished.
... and impressed with all the options in the setup - although curious about the advanced options I'm not allowed(!)

The other questions I had - off topic now I realise - were how long the rental waiver goes for (It was suggested that it would continue until naked dsl was available), and do I need to do anything with Telecom - I've asked for my existing number to be transferred in its entirety to the vfx service.

thanks again

regards

Opps I'm bad the Call was from a VFX phone but I had CLI restriction on, just made the call again for you to see,

The advanced options....Sealed...more services to come, this is just the first offering for residential users there is a lot more to be offered at a future point.

The rental waver was until April...but I may have an update on this shortly....If you wait a few days I will let you know the update,

As for your Number that is number portabilit, the thing to rememeber here is that if you have this with a DSL service you will also lose the DSL !!!,  its okay if you have it on a second line but not your primary DSL line.

If you want I can have one of my Sales guys call you to go over it just let me know...

This is off the topic a little.... I'm not getting the voicemail notification signal when picking up the phone.  I didn't realise that I had 4 messages waiting until I dialed in to the voicemail service.  Could it be that my phone is incompatible or is it more to do with the VOIP hardware?

In the meantime I have setup email notification.

hmmm...since you may be using a different stup for the Phone in your Loaction , it may be this, if you can give me a time when someone left a message I can have a check to make sure everything is okay, butI'm picking possibly it may be your Non NZ Phone type :)
