I have a Draytek 2910 which allows me to have upto 6 SIP accounts. 2 I use for Europe and currently I am using a third for BBpglobal to get NZ voip service. how do I get an VFX account setup without using the Linksys hardware. I would like to move over my BBPglobal account if I can

Unfortunately, I don't think the VFX service allows you to use other devices apart from the ones they support. Either that or they don't unlock that port configuration while it is set up for VFX.

Though one of the people who use the VFX service (or their staff members), will be able to prove me wrong or right.

Yep, you're right about that Cokemaster. To use the VFX service, you need to have one of the devices listed here:

There's a good selection to cover most requirements, and assuming you just want one VFX line and have no need for faxing, I would recommend the PAP2T. These are available for less than $100 and you only need a spare port on your router to hook it up.

As I recall, with BBP Global, you don't get free Local Calls, and you have to prepay for the minutes used, so I can understand why you are looking at VFX. Also, BBP Global charges 59c per minute to call a NZ mobile. They really need to revamp their plans to be competitive as 59c is way off the mark nowadays.

Thanks for the replies. I chatted to the sales team and they mentioed that this hardware requirement may become expanded in the near future to include other hardware. Just the supply of the SIP information would be enough for me as the Draytek is very configurable. I will try and see who else is offering a voip service other than italk in NZ.
