I'm still encountering wife acceptance problems with vfx, mostly on call quality through my TC cable. These are mainly distortion or "fuzz" effects when calling a TC number (9733668 yesterday for example). It also doesn't help that my Uniden cordless phone for whatever reason seems to emit more hiss connected to the ata as opposed to my TC landine. (is this a line balance problem?)
One thing that I'm curious about is that when I call another vfx number the sound quality for example of the ringing tone I hear is really good. If I dial a Telecom or TC number the dial tone is distorted and warbly.
Question - why is this when I'm assuming the same traffic path from my cable box to the vfx exchange is the same.
When I have called inward to my vfx number there is also so echo going on after I have finished some words followed by a pause
(eg like after replying yeh).
With the relatively real time nature of telephone calls and the variable nature of network traffic timing it's amazing voip works as well as it does.
I guess my rambling aside - is it unreasonable to expect vfx to be as good as a landline for audio quality?
Anyway somebody with more knowledge may be able to answer these questions.
