Hi there guys. I do apologize in advance if this request seems inappropriate, violate TC or is in the wrong forums.

I am after someone that has an On Account mobile with Vodafone and is willing to let me ‘link’ their cell number with my account so I get $10 off my landline and broadband monthly bill.

There is nothing into it beside that I would need your number and then there would be a few txts sent between you and I when the Vodafone customer service representative in on the phone with me.

One of the txts would be from me asking for a 4 digit numerical code that the Vodafone representative would have sent you.   As far as I am aware of Vodafone will not disclose any information about your details to me nor of my details to you (please someone let me know if that is incorrect as I might change my mind about linking someone’s cell to my account).

And pretty much that is all that you will hear from Vodafone and me. And of course if you can’t or does not want to send me a txt message the Vodafone customer person would be most happy to call you up and ask for the code themselves.

If this request is allowed to be placed here and anyone willing to help me out, just send me a private message and I am already thankful in advance.

And of course let me know if this is a good idea at all or if it is creepy in all of its essence, or if I should be aware of any safety issues that may arise from me sharing my cell number with some crazy geek. Ha ha. ( that "dodgy" icon at the title had to be used ;)  )

Cheers

Well, 10 bucks is 10 bucks!!! And times that on a 12 months contract ....

Assuming my info about the privacy Vodafone takes in this matter is correct as there was no "correction" given :)

Could you share other ways for someone who doesn't have any friends with Vodafone numbers?

Cheers.

What do you have in return? Seems fair.

You should go for naked broadband ($30/month off), then offer to pay the on-account holder $15/month for linking their number. Both of you save $15/month ($180/yr).

From the "Important things to know" section, emphasis mine.

"The On Account discounted pricing is available when Naked Broadband is linked to an eligible Vodafone On Account plan, which you or your employer pays for. Eligible plans do not include Prepay, Mobile Broadband, Mobile data, TXT only, Free2Call, Biz Mobile, Biz Data, Invitation Mobile GSM and Free Access plans."

Our On Account mobile plans start from $29 a month and make you eligible for a $10 or $30 discount on most of our home broadband plans.

How often to Vodafone check with the IRD as to who is employed by the bill payer?

To validate the number to link it to a broadband account, your mate will have to talk to one of us to get the activation code. As Dylan pointed out, if the mobile bill is not paid for by the same person paying for the FAB account, you really shouldn't be doing this.
