Before I change from 2D to VF (as part of a possible VDSL sign-up)  I would like to get some idea of how my S3 will adapt to the move. I did the reverse many years ago on a very "non-smart" phone and, IIRC, the only difference was the signal was annotated as "Roaming". I suspect the impact will now be greater.

I bought a 2 Degrees S3 from the Warehouse Stationery when the S3 first came out.  I run it on the Vodafone network without any problems at all.

Should be no issues as Vodafone sells same model as 2D. Usually you would have to just change internet and MMS APN to Vodafone takes 2 mins just google how if mobile net isn't working.

Always best to actually test first with a VF SIM if possible.

I would advise to get the VFNZ software version on the handset

Ask @Stevebiddle all about this

It will work just fine out of the box. Hardware identical to the VF sold i9300. Should load up the APNs by itself when it boots with a Vodafone SIM inserted.

If you're feeling adventurous/out of warranty (And if HD Voice isn't working), you can always load the Vodafone S III variant's software on board as well.

Many thanks to all responders.  I have signed-up to VF and will load the sim, when it arrives, with optimism!

I would recommend loading the VF firmware. There are a number of issues that will result from running the 2d firmware incl issues with emergency call camping and an inability to easily make the phone reconnect to VF when returning from overseas roaming.

Also HD-Voice may or may not work. Not sure about fast dormancy either.

Would you have a link to a description of how to go about loading the VF firmware.  I've done a bit of digging but most of what I've found seems rather dated. I've also downloaded Odin but that clearly demands a skill and knowledge level beyond my pay grade!

Loaded the VF sim yesterday and the voice side works well, but, although the data icon shows, there is no connection to the internet. I have tried the push setting facility at http://www.vodafone.co.nz/help/mobile-phones/configure-ota/, without success.  Can anyone suggest a solution?
