Hi,

wondering if anyone here has experience with running using Vodafone Mobile Connect Software (9.1.2, the full version with SMS)
and a local web server for software development.

Vodafone Helpdesk staff have recommended to install this software to be able to connect quicker with a Vodem and to have less problems with Hibernating the laptop.
However, after installing I quickly realised that my web development environment was not working anymore. At first I thought the software might hog port 80, but switching the web server prot didn't help. All development is done on local domains (i.e. www.example.com), which are mapped in my hosts file (to 127.0.0.1). It seems as if the hosts file is being turned off.

Any help or hints would be appreciated, I'm using WinXP Prof

Regards,

Jochen

I'm not clued up on web server development etc, but some people have found if the VMC software is installed with the "optimise" settings checked, it can cause networking issues. Did you ensure this option was unchecked when you installed? Also, you could try version 9.2.1 from http://www.mobilenetworks.co.nz/
