Hello

I have a vodafone .net email address and am still running XP and good old outlook as a mail program . I am overseas at the moment and can nt send emails from the laptop . I can recieve emails just fine .
I have used this laptop overseas in the past but not for a year or so , so I expect I have changed a setting or a setting from vodafone has changed . I understand I need authentication on when off the vodafone network but I am still unable to sent emails . I have searched the vodafone site and not found anthing that helps . Anyone know what settings I need ?

Current settings are
Incoming pop.vodafone.net.nz server pop3 110
outgoing smtp2.vodafone.net.nz server smpt 25 with "this server requires an encripted connection(ssl)" selected

I'm not quite sure why Vodafone NZ run their outbound SMTP/SSL on port 25, access to this port will be blocked by your overseas ISP.

Might be easier just to use their webmail through your browser.

Running XP on a machine connected to the internet is just asking to be compromised.

For the love of god unplug it.

Vodafone do not provide a mail service that any sane person would use on a random overseas internet connection.

Friend started to get emails from a "supplier" asking them to pay into a different account after that supplier used an insecure internet connection and insecure email authentication while travelling.

Wouldn't you use the SMTP server of the ISP you are connected to?

Make sure the ISP you are connected to is not blocking port 25

You may be able to have their smtp server accept it, but nothing from that point on will do anything much with the email other than drop it or tag it spam since it would not be coming from a server in the spf record for ihug.
