Hi all,

I have UFB with Vodafone supplied by Enable in Canterbury. I have recently purchased a new Netgear R8000 but am needing a little advice re configuring it as the settings provided by Vodafone are quite vague.

My understanding is that the connection type is DHCP / configured automatically, with WAN traffic VLAN tagged with 10. Under internet setup, I don't seem to have the option for VLAN tagging. There is a seperate VLAN section but I suspect this is for Internal VLANing as it gives me the option to assign VLANs to the LAN ports but not the WAN ports.

Does anyone on Vodafone UFB have any similar experiences or configuration tips for the Netgear R8000? I also see DD-WRT firmware is available and wondered if this could be an alternative.

Connect the old router then make a number of screen captures of the configuration on each screen this should give you all the information you need to replicate the settings on the R8000; basically the WAN information is what you need from the old router. How you setup your Internal LAN / Wi-Fi and password is up to you.

The old Router is unfortunately a Vodafone-Branded device which doesn't allow me to see any advanced settings etc as it is automatically configured for fibre.

DHCP on VLAN 10. May or may not need to clone the MAC of the Huawei they sent out to you.

That might be the case if it's a Vodafone Station SHG 1500 but we haven't sent those out for fibre in a long time. The HG659 allows you to access those details. Here's a screenshot of the settings you need.

How did you get along with your setup? I was wondering if you had a Vodafone landline with yours?. I have just signed up and are trying to figure out the setup when the time comes.
