ok I have the river plan, FSdown 128k up, since this weekend I have been haviung frequent ADSl drop outs...

During maximum ADSl use there would be 5 PCs ding stuff, 1 PC doing just simple net stuff, reading not downloading anything heavy, the other 4 pcs most likely playing games MMORPg not FPS games, now my question is..

Can upload speeds disconnect your service then make a reconnect, reason I ask this is I phoned Xnet support, and they looked and confirmed my many dropouts but said about 90% of the dropouts came from a modem request, I use a Linksys ADSL2 Modem/Router....

Xnet suport suggested that I try another modem...

Anyone have a suggestion, and yes I did the line testing etc etc.....

I only have 1 phone sharing the line, nothing else, no fax, no alarms....., and the exchange is 50metres from my house across the raod heh

Is the 50meters across the road reflected in what the modem thinks, do you have the modem connection stats.

My Linksys WAG54GP2v2 had been intermittently dropping off since I installed it last weekend. I called WorldXChange who were very helpful and verified the issue in the logs and requested Telecom adjust my line filtering (or something like that) on Monday.

Additionally on Wednesday morning the device completely froze with DSL up, but internet down, and I couldn't connect to the device via telnet or web.

Telecom did something on Thursday morning and the drop offs stopped for two days, however it started dropping off again every 20-60 minutes on Saturday/Sunday.

I got sick of it mid-day Sunday, and reinstalled my old D-Link 504G. Problem now gone, back to stable internet...

The WAG54GP2 was my second attempt, the first router wouldn't stay connected for more than 3 seconds. Not too impressed with Linksys device - so returned it this morning for a credit.

Here's my experience with a Linksys modem:

Bought a WAG54Gv3.
Disconnected every time speeds exceeded 550kBps for more than a couple of seconds. (Every time means exactly that. I repeated the test at least 50 times, and each time it disconnected.)
It would drop at least twice an evening.
After a few months I realised this wasn't normal, took it back, and got myself a RTA1025W.

Haven't had a single disconnection since. (Except when there was a problem at WxC after they installed new equipment.)
It kept sync for 10 days without fail. The Linksys couldn't even manage 3 hours.

Moral is: Don't get a Linksys modem. Most of their routers are superb. Just not the modems and all-in-one units.
