Hi

Excuse my question as being from a NOOB.

I have just joined up with fusion and now want to connect my telepone to PAP2T but the wire just doesn't fit in the hole.

Have I bought the wrong ATA or do I need to buy I different wire. The plug in the back of the PAP2T is the small telephone jackpoint similar to the ethernet ports.

Hope that makes sense?

Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger

No Noobs here, if you don't ask you don't know Wink, with your Pap2 it should probably have come with a cable, its a Rj12 to Rj12  cable and is the same plug at either end fits your phone and fits the PAP2t, if it didn't you will need to get this cable , available from places like dick smith for a few $

My PAP2 didn't come with the cable either.  But my ADSL modem had come with one for use on the filter's ADSL port.  I'm using that on my phone since I use standard cable for the modem that plugs into the wall.

I think most of these boxes, PAP2T's SPA's etc don't come with this cable. I always have a heap of these around, so not really a problem for me. Can see this being an issue for some though. Just like what use to happen with printers (and probably still does). You'd go to the shop, get a new printer, take it home, only to find you have to go back to the shop and buy a USB cable.

One other thing to remember is that many countries are now using RJ12 plugs for their phone sockets. The USA has done for a long time and it's now the standard in Australia. All phones you buy over there will include a RJ12 cable and a 600 series adapter (the big phone plugs that used to be the standard in Australia). Because Linksys package these devices for the Australian market they probably figure they can skimp 20c on the product cost by not including a cable since most people will have one already! :-)
