Hi

Our toll calls drop every 10 mins. Local calls are fine. We are on fusion using PAP2T.

Any ideas what could possibly be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Roger

Yes. They tried port forwarding on the router but to no avail.

We also had a local call drop during the 10th minute. It seems strange how it is always the 10th minute. Not 9, not 11, but 10. I can only guess it must be a setting somewhere...

The issue should probably be effecting all calls, as there is no difference for the calls. The issue occurs due to a message getting no reply from your PAP2T, at 10 minutes a message gets sent to your device ( to check if the call is still alive) and if no response recieved the call disconnects, generally the issue relates to your router, what router do you have ?

Please read a previous discussion where there was a bug found with some Linksys firmware causing call drops every 10 minutes.

A bit of browsing in the forum and you could have spotted this.

Belkin F5D7633au4A v6000 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem-router

Here is a screenshot of the port forwarding. The tech guy and I were not sure if it was done correctly with regard to public & LAN ports?

By the way, we have a SPA2102 here behind a Belkin wireless router and we have no port foward set all. We also have a PAP2T at in-laws, this one behind a DLink and again no port foward. They just work...

freitasm: Have you checked the discussion link I posted?

Yes, I have, thanks.

However, WxC seems to have locked my PAP2T and I don't want to reset it again. Therefore I cannot update the firmware myself.

Thanks for the link.

Would that be an ICMP ping?

OK, in this case it is not a port forwarding issue, as that has been done correctly and confirmed.

Moreover, this is an intermittant problem. Albeit more often than not.

Any other ideas as to what could be causing this? Is the next most likely cause shoddy wiring from the gate to the house?

Thank you.

Roger

Hi Rodger,

No it won't be anything to do wit the wiring it will be purely related tothe router and the messages it's getting, PM your details and the details of the occurance and I will take a look.

For anyone who may be following this thread, the end result was that Maverick was indeed right. The belkin was at fault, not passing through SIP messages correctly. I bought a Linksys wag200G and not only does it work perfectly but the sound quality is vastly improved.

A very large thank you to Maverick for all your help and patience. My wife has put the kitchen knives away now... Wink

Regards
Roger

PS For sale, one cheap belkin. PM me...

I've found that some DSL routers SIP ALG (Application Layer Gateways) don't work very well so may be similar problems with as this.

I don't know what WXC is using but normally the SIP provider has an SIP SBC (Session Border Controller) which usually will fix problems with NATTED SIP (and other things). If you can you can try turning off the SIP ALG on the DSL router and that may fix the problem with using the Belkin.

Also if you can't turn the SIP ALG off most SIP ALG's on DSL routers will only look at port 5060 so (I dunno if this is possible) to connect via a different port so the Router's ALG doesn't come into affect on this different port.

Thanks
